Here's some info to take into account.

Van hire in Spain is expensive. And often with old, battered and badly maintained vehicles. And more often than not, they won't have the correct sized vehicle that you reserved.
And most hire companies here in Spain will only include 100 to 200km mileage per day and thereafter, you'll be paying 40 cents or more for each kilometer driven.

Overweight
Most large vans are rated as 3500kg. This is the total weight the vehicle can weigh loaded. Most full or almost full vans are grossly overweight.
It's not just about total weight either. Each axle has a limit. Exceed these and your a putting yourself and other road users at risk!

What most large vans can carry!
The average large van weighs in at around 2450 kg's EMPTY.
Add around 70kg's for a tank of fuel and 85g's for an average driver.
This leaves you with a realistic loading weight of 895kg's. That's equivalent to 35 boxes weighing 25kg's each!

500kg Overweight?
Most authorites will allow 5 to 10% above the vehicles maximum weight. This will likely attact a fine of around €500.
And you will need to reduce the weight before you can continue your journey.
More that 10% overweight. You'd better have deep pockets to pay the fine!
